My Daughter’s Poem to Me for Mother’s Day

I just had to share this. Those of you who know me will know how deeply meaningful this poem is to me. This was my Mother’s Day gift that my daughter Lauren wrote for me today. My heart is so full from her love and understanding.

You say that I look like her
that I have her eyes
and her lips
as you stare longingly
at the faded photograph

You say I act like her
my personality reminds you so much of her

She left you when you were fourteen
when you were my age
you had to grow up on your own
and take care of yourself

But I'm glad that you're still here
with me
to teach me
to care for me
to love me
I love you too

That was beautiful. I can understand how you feel I lost my Mom when I was 10. Mother's Day is tough isn't it!
